The Flake Award: The Please Don’t Hate Me Because I Forgot About My Award Post

Not an award that I’d hand out to just anybody, you know!

I know I’ve received some awards here recently.  I know there were a couple awhile back that I spaced off and forgot about.  I’m not a conceited person who thinks she is all that and, well, you know.  I just can’t find my brain.  Have you seen it?

Yes I am a flake.  I’m going to try REALLY hard here to try to make it all right.  I’m going to invent my own award called “The Flake Award”.  If you receive it you are one of the most awesome folks out there.  You don’t have to DO A THING after having received it, other than just say thank you.  Most of the people I run with are moms.  We have a lot on our plate.  Some of us have more like a serving platter than a plate.

So as I peruse my brain trying to think up the specifics of the flake award, mainly what it would look like, here are some of the other awards that I have been summoned to receive.

One more thing before you read on-I know some people are all-OMG these awards are all stupid and blah blah blah.  It’s hard to know just who ya are.  You don’t have to be obligated to do a DARN THING if you don’t want to.  Just say thanks!  ;-D

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award

momtimesfour nominated me for this award.  She’s right, I have followed her blog from the first week she was on here.  I just happened to see it and thought it was so neat.  What’s the best thing about her blog?  Besides the fact that it is funny and true, it’s the fact that I can read it and not have to worry about little faces looking at the screen.  It is very family friendly!  I highly recommend it if you haven’t checked it out-it’s a fun blog!

I got nominated for more than one award this week, so I am attempting to combine everything into one nice post.  The next one requires you list 11 facts-therefore I think that pretty much covers the 7, don’t you?

Nominees for this award.  I think since there were supposed to be 7 facts there should be 7 nominees.  This time I’m branching out and away from WordPress!

Baking in a Tornado-I saw people talking about this blog, so one day I went and checked it out for myself.  She was so positive, and talk about some wonderful recipes!  She’s going places people, check her out!
Funny is Family-I like this blog.  I get her.  I think she and I could have a lot of fun hanging out in real life.
Menopausal Mother-Because she is the bomb!  She is so freaking hilarious, supportive of her fellow bloggers and just so darn nice, you can’t help but not love her!
Go Cheap or Go Home-I’m cheap, she’s cheaper.  No, that’s a compliment!  And she’s a sweetie, too.
Something Clever 2.0-She’s original, and she’s not afraid to let you know it!  I like this chick, I feel like I’m running with the cool crowd knowing her.
Miss Banana Pants-Funny and heartwarming, not to mention very entertaining.
DeBie Hive-She not only looks like WonderWoman, to me she is.  There is nothing that this lady can’t do, or write about.

The Liebster Award

Darla over at Mom’s World and I have been great cheerleaders for each other.  She’s so sweet, always being so encouraging to me even in times when I felt like yak snot not worthy of a kleenex.  She nominated me for this award.  I’ve received the Liebster before-it’s an award for bloggers who have 200 or less followers.  I don’t know now if I can actually accept it since I have more than that.  But I thought maybe I could recognize some of the other folks who aren’t there yet this way.

Here’s the kicker-I remember being nominated for it yet another time a while back and couldn’t remember who nominated me and when this person nominated me.  After doing some careful research, I found that it was  Persuaded2Go who awarded this one to me BACK IN NOVEMBER!  And I swore up and down I would have to think about it a bit before I did anything with it.  I apologize to you, my friend, for not following up on this sooner.  I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me!

11 random facts about Moi (that I haven’t stated previously):

My favorite color is purple.
I love everything about yoga but I don’t really have the attention span for it.
My husband proposed to me on a playground.
I have always wanted to learn to play the cello.
I used to be a vegan.
I am allergic to air.  Not not really, but sometimes it seems like it!
I listen to most kinds of music-what genre I’m listening to depends upon my mood.
I have not read an entire book since I had my children.
I’m very superstitious about the number 13.  When my blog had 13 followers I had to beg people I knew to follow my blog so I could get away from that number.

Questions I had to answer:

1.  Are you brand-loyal to any product?
Neutrogena, because I have skin problems.  I use their sesame body lotion, body oil, body butter, body wash, makeup (except for mascara-because they don’t make brown and I can’t wear black without looking weird), and night cream.  I don’t use a ton of other products-other than a lavender spray.  I used to be brand loyal to Burts Bees, but I’ve had reactions to a lot of their products!  Which brand do I wish I could afford to be loyal to?  ORIGINS!  But alas, I cannot.  I use their toner, and when I run out I will cry.

2.  Do you have a story behind your kid(s) name(s)?
My son is named Ezra.  There used to be a motocross rider named Ezra Lusk.  I just thought the name was cool.
My daughter is named Brynn.  I still don’t know where my husband pulled that one out of but I love it.  It seems that anytime there is an evil or bizarre person in a show or movie the name is Brynn.  Think Bridesmaids, Being Human, yeah you get the picture!

3.  What is your favorite board game?
Easy-Scrabble.  No I don’t play Words With Friends.  Just because you like Scrabble doesn’t mean you play the other one…

4.  Have you ever been to Disneyland/Disneyworld?
I used to live near Orlando.  I have been to Disneyworld five times and Epcot twice.  I miss it.

5.  What is your favorite movie?
This is a seriously bad question to ask me because I have many favorites:  Despicable Me, Back to the Future, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Avengers, Star Trek (2009), Sixteen Candles, Better Off Dead, Real Genius, While You Were Sleeping, Kindergarten Cop, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  Come on, you asked.

6.  What did you want to be when you grew up?
I don’t know.  I just want to be successful at something.

7.  What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
A family trip to New York City when I was in elementary school.

8.  What city do you live in and do you like it?
I am not at liberty to divulge where I live.  I’m in the Midwest.  Do I like it?  There are aspects of it that I like-that the nearest city is not far.  That my children can attend a small school.  That it feels safe.  That there is a church that we can go to and be a part of.  What I don’t like is the fact that it is a small town.  I often feel judged and looked down upon.  I also feel like we don’t fit in because we are not from the area.

9.  How long have you been blogging and why?
I have been blogging since June 2012.  Not very long.  I started blogging as a way to vent as well as share stories.

10. Do you have someone you idolize or look up to?
Ellen Degeneres.  She’s funny, she never gives up, she reaches out to so many people all the time and she never stops giving.  She is definitely one of my inspirations.  I hope to be able to meet her someday.

11. What is your favorite TV show?
Currently my favorite show is The Big Bang Theory.  I also really enjoy Modern Family, The Middle, And Whitney.  And of course I watch Ellen anytime I sneak it in.  My all time favorite TV Shows are Friends, Scrubs,  and M*A*S*H.

Blog of the Year Award

I wouldn’t blame FrontRangeScribbles for being mad at me.  After all, I was told I was nominated for this award back in December!  Ah, the ADD Brain.  It never ceases to amaze me how forgetful I can be.

The rules of this were fairly simple-to nominate other blogger who you feel deserved the award, you know back in 2012, and link to them and all that jazz…  I used a very scientific formula to determine this.  It had to be a blog that I have followed for more than a month, that I read most of the posts and we actually interact and stuff….At first this was hard.  But then I realized that the time had already passed so who really cared?  So here is the list of blogs that I know that I read the most in 2012.  You know that your readership will soar now that I have handed this wonderful late award to you!
