Wordless Wednesday: Life In Iowa

I love this picture.  It is so representative of rural life in Iowa.  Wide open spaces, railroad tracks, a wind turbine in the distance.  Home.

  1. I’m just over the river from you in Illinois. That very well could have been a scene from here!! Great photo!!

      • There are some, but not nearly as many as in North Dakota or Wyoming. We moved to Arizona last Thanksgiving and haven’t seen nearly as many down here. More solar panels than anything.

  2. That’s a really gorgeous photo. I’m in the market for a new camera…what do you use? And I’m in love with your blog, too…you are awesome. Oh and please tell me why you are sadder but wiser? Not that we all aren’t but I’m curious as to why you are. Stalked around here and didn’t see an answer. ❤

      • It’s from The Music Man. I may be sadder from the experiences that haven’t turned out as I had hoped but I am hoping that I am wiser. It kind of sucks on some of the social media because I can only use part of the name because you are limited on characters!

    • I use a Canon Powershot SX230. I researched cameras in my price range and that one had the best reviews. I got it at Best Buy. I LOVE it. I took it to the NASCAR race in Kansas last year and was able to get a picture of Kevin Harvick’s wife sitting in the pit box. That’s not exactly an easy feat by any means!

      • Thanks for the camera info (and the info on sadder but wiser). I’ve been looking at cameras since I started my blog in Sept because I realized my photos sucked but haven’t bought one yet. It helps me huge that you are the second to recommend this one and that you shopped. ‘Cause I don’t wanna shop…I just want somebody to tell me what to get! Thanks, you!

  3. It reminds me a lot of growing up in rural Indiana … except for the soccer. Amazing how that sport has caught on in the last 20 years or so. Btw, congrats to the Iowa Hawkeyes as they’re in the Final Four of the NIT basketball tourney!

  4. Wow. That’s incredible. This picture reminds me of Windhoek in Namibia where I grew up. There were also lots of open spaces and veld. In fact, we had to play hockey and sand and gravel because there was so little grass! Great picture! 🙂
